Commenced return to Australia on board SS 'Ballarat', 5 July 1915 (venereal disease).

Returned to Egypt, 10 September 1915.

Served Gallipoli: taken on strength, 7 December 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria, 7 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Appointed Lance Corporal, 21 February 1916; Corporal, 13 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 25 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 30 March 1916.

Wounded in action, 25 July 1916 (gun shot wound, right hand and left thigh), and admitted to 57th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 34th Casualty Clearing Station; to 10th General Hospital, Rouen, 26 July 1915; to England, 29 July 1916, and admitted to 3rd Western General Hospital, Newport, Monmouthshire, 30 July 1916; discharged to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 16 September 1916.

On furlough, 18 September 1916; marched in to No 1 Command Depot from furlough, 4 October 1916.

Detached for temporary duty to Assistant Provost Marshal Staff, Tidworth, 13 October 1916; marched in to No 4 Command Depot, Wareham, from detachment, 24 November 1916.

Transferred to 61st Bn, 23 March 1917.

On Command, Bombing School, Lyndhurst, 4 June 1917; rejoined Bn from Bombing School, 16 June 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Balmoral Castle', 25 February 1919; arrived Tasmania, 13 April 1919, for onward travel by boat to Sydney; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), 8 June 1919.
