Distinguished Conduct Medal 'In command of his platoon in the operations from the 29 to 31 August, 1918, near Mont St. Quentin, he displayed the greatest gallantry and skill in rushing hostile machine gun posts and capturing guns and prisoners. On one occasion he ran forward alone, shouting to his platoon to charge, gained the position, shot the gunner, and took twenty three prisoners.'
