Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty after being wounded. He was one of a carrying party, and although the wound had rendered his left arm useless, he made four trips to the front line with carrying parties through heavy shell fire, afterwards making a fifth journey to guide a party of infantry to the front line.'
