Military Medal 'These men [ROBERTS and 2074 A. SOUTHAM] displayed courage and initiative of the highest order in establishing and maintaining communications between their Battery and the F.O.O.'s during the operations of the 8th and 9th August 1918. In front of HAMEL - VILLERS BRETONNEUX. On several occasions they repaired the telephone lines under heavy fire, salving German wire for the purpose, and displaying a total disregard of personal safety in the performance of their duty. When telephonic communication became impossible, they acted as runners, passing through heavy machine gun and rifle fire at close range. The courage and devotion to duty of these men are deserving of special recognition.'
