Military Medal

'On morning of 18th September 1918 during the attack on enemy positions EAST of JEANCOURT, this man shone out during the operation for his daring and bravery. At all times he was to the fore when enemy showed fight, and on one particular occasion when a hostile post was encountered he dashed forward, bombed the post and enabled the platoon to continue the advance. By his fine display of courage and the magnificent example he set, he inspired the remainder of the platoon, and his behaviour is worthy of recognition.'
