Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance near LE VERQUIER on the 18th September, 1918. Private ROCHFORD on reaching the Objective organised the remnants of the section and pushed forward to a position overlooking a sunken road. here he noticed a strong party of the enemy being re-organised by their Officers. At great personal risk he moved his gun into a position and opened fire on the enemy, causing heavy casualties and crushing the counter attack. His prompt action undoubtedly prevented further fighting and allowed his Company to consolidate. He set a fine example of courage and initiative.'
