'For conspicuous gallantry as a bomber in action near BULLECOURT on 3rd May when he bombed towards the 62nd Division, remaining at work although wounded. His coolness and prompt action are shown by the fact that he threw a German bomb back before it exploded and later one of our own from which the lever had been removed accidentally.'
