Medals |
Military Cross 'During the operations near Fontaine-les-Cappy, on 27th-29th August, 1918, he led his company with great gallantry and skill, and protected the flank of the battalion, advancing well ahead of the line, through an intricate system of trenches and wire, and capturing the ruined village of Fay. When held up by machine gun fire he made a skilful reconnaissance to the front, and obtained information which enabled him, after dark, to advance and force back the enemy. His fine leadership inspired his men with great confidence.'
