Military Medal Throughout the winter on the Somme (Fleurs) Pte. Rogers was acting as Runner. At all times he showed great determination and pluck in getting messages through from the front line to Battalion Headquarters under heavy shell fire, and direct machine gun fire. Pte. Rogers showed great courage in acting as special runner in the following battles: Bullecourt, Passchendaele, Dernancourt, Monument Wood, Proyart (8 August 1918). Attack on the outposts of the Hindenberg Line on the 18 September 1918 Pte Rogers set a very high standard for runners and has stood out on account of his exceptional courage, energy and cheerfulness.
