Transferred to Divisional Engineers, 5 August 1915; transferred to 2nd Field Company Engineers as Sapper, and allotted Regimental Number 416, 6 August 1915. Wounded in action, 15 August 1915 (bomb wound, head and ear), and admitted to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Mudros, and then to Mena House Hospital, Egypt, 30 August 1915; to Montazah Convalescent Home, 25 September 1915.
