Discharged and proceeded overseas to France, 5 December 1917; rejoined unit, 10 December 1917.

Wounded in action (gas), 26 May 1918; rejoined unit, 4 June 1918. Married Lily Maud Miller, Holy Innocent Church, Hammersmith, London, 27 April 1919. Commenced return to Australia on board 'Zealandic', 15 May 1920; discharged, 14 June 1920.
