Recommendations (Medals and Awards) |
Meritorious Service Medal 'This N.C.O. arrived in FRANCE with the 54th Battalion and served in the Transport Section of that Unit from date of arrival until the 54th Battalion was disbanded in October, 1918. He has always been a most efficient N.C.O., rendering most valuable service to his Unit, and exercising the greatest consideration fro the men of his Section. During extended periods in which his Battalion has been in the Line his work has been very heavy, and he has always acquitted himself in the most creditable manner. He is a very reliable N.C.O., with initiative well above the average, and is at his best in difficult situations. When his Unit was in the MORLANCOURT area and the Transport Section was reduced to about half its strength owing to the Influenza epidemic, Corporal RUSH had extremely heavy tasks allotted him, and the manner in which he performed them elicited the greatest admiration from all with whom he came in contact. He is an excellent horse master and it has been exclusively due to this quality that he has on many occasions got his Limbers and mule trains to the appointed place when the animals have been in a very exhausted state. His work in getting rations and ammunition tot he Battalion in the Forward Area has been of the greatest value. I strongly recommend him for the Meritorious Service Medal.' |
