Military Medal 'Conspicuous Gallantry in action at VILLERS-BRETONNEUX on night 24th/25th April 1918. He displayed great gallantry and determination in bringing his gun into action during the advance, when his No. 1 had become a casualty. On reaching his objective he successfully engaged a large party of enemy who were firing from the village in his rear. His conduct throughout was of the highest order and when wounded 25th/26th April 1918 he returned to duty until ordered away by his officer.'
