Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty. At VILLE-sur-ANCRE, South West of ALBERT, on 4th July 1918 he displayed admirable courage and coolness during an attack on the enemy position and ably assisted in constructing a bombing stop, despite vigorous enemy bombing. Later he formed part of the defence of the bomb stop and for 36 hours was tireless in repelling enemy attacks.'
