Bar to Military Cross

'On the morning of 22nd August 1918, north of Chipilly, on the Bray-Corbie road, he took a car along to the R.A.P. in spite of heavy shelling and gas. He superintended the line of evacuation continually, taking fresh squads up to the R.A.P. through heavy fire. Again on 31st August, he dressed a wounded medical officer and his orderly in the open, being wounded while doing so. During the period 20th-31st August 1918, his fearless energy and devotion to duty were responsible for the rapid evacuation of so many wounded.'
