Military Medal 'At LAGNICOURT, on the morning of 15th April 1917, L/Cpl. SCHOCHER was in charge of a gun in action. Before dawn this gun was outflanked by the enemy attack from the direction of NOREUIL and had to retire in a S.E. direction to the N.E. corner of LAGNICOURT. During this movement the gun repeatedly came into action against the enemy at ranges from 50 to 100 yards and in every case the enemy was stopped, and heavy casualties were inflicted on him. The gun was finally sited in the sunken road leading to DOIGNIES. Here it was found that the team had been reduced to two, namely L/Cpl. SCHOCHER and Pte. BARBER. These two hung on to the gun, and during the remainder of the operation did excellent work.'
