'This man used his Lewis gun with great skill and daring in the attack on the morning of the 19th instant near MORLANCOURT. he pushed well in advance of the line and brought flanking fire to a party of the enemy who were holding up a neighbouring platoon and thus enabled them to advance. On the previous day he took part in a daylight raid in which 23 prisoners and a machine gun were taken, and showed dash and daring.'
