'During the attack on the Beaurevoir line, east of Peronne on 3rd October 1918, after having had his hand shattered by shell fire he continued to lead his men. After the objective was ained he consolidated the position, and it was not until the new line was secure that he consented to leave his post, and was immediately evacuated. He showed great pluck and devotion to duty.'
