War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Taken on strength, 7th Bn, Sarpi Camp, Lemnos, 20 November 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, 7 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Found guilty, 22 March 1916, of overstaying leave from 2200, 21 March, till 2100, 22 March 1916: awarded 5 days' confined to camp, and automatically forfeited 2 days' pay. Transferred to 59th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 24 February 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Posted missing, 19 July 1916. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 29 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'.
