Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 30 September, 1918, at Kaukab, when the squadron was the first wave of a mounted attack against enemy infantry and machine guns. This sergeant, acting as troop leader, led his troop with great dash and vigour, setting a fine example of determination and daring to all ranks, resulting in the capture of many prisoners and machine guns.'
