Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He displayed great courage and determination in tending the wounded continuously for seven hours under very heavy fire.'

He displayed exceptional courage in bringing wounded from "No Man's Land", all the time working under very heavy fire. His unselfish conduct undoubtedly saved many lives.'
