Military Medal 'While he was on duty at A.C.S. near Noreuil on the morning of 15th May at 1 a.m. word was brought that some men were lying wounded in a dug-out which had been blown in. Despite an exceptional storm of H.E. and gas shells, this squad of men [SHEARER, 6759 Stanley Harrison WRIGHT, 6703 Kenelon Eustace COLLER] at once went to the assistance of the wounded. They adjusted gas masks, dressed the wounds of the patients and carried them to the A.C.S., a distance of some 200 yards. Throughout the whole of these proceedings they were subjected to an intense barrage. Their courageous conduct undoubtedly saved the patients lives.'
