War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength, 22nd Bn, Tel el Kebir, 8 January 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 26 March 1916; proceeded to join Bn, in the field, 25 July 1916. Admitted to 4th Casualty Clearing station, 2 September 1916 (warts on penis); transferred to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 2 September 1916 (papillomata [non-venereal]); to 6th Convalescent Depot, 16 September 1916, and discharged same day to Base Depot, Etaples. Admitted to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, 21 October 1916 (disordered action of the heart); transferred to England, 25 October 1916, and admitted to 1st Western General Hospital (gassed); transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 3 November 1916; discharged on furlough, 15 January 1917, to report to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, 31 January 1917.
