Admitted from Canal Zone to 6th Field Ambulance, Ismailia, 6 February 1916 (herpes), and transferred to No 2 Casualty Clearing Station; to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Ferry Post, 1 April 1916, and admitted, 3 April 1916 (iritis); discharged, 17 April 1916.

Taken on strength, 60th Bn, Duntroon Plateau, 20 April 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.

Reported Missing, 19 July 1916.

Statement, 4774 Pte G.T. CLAY, D Company, 60th Bn, 30 November 1916: 'Pte. R. Mason, XVI Pl, D. Co, was with him when he died at Fleurbaix on July 19th. Sheldrick was badly wounded and died out in No Man's Land. Mason stayed with him until his death, and gave me the facts a few nights later when he came in.'
