Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry during the period of 18 to 21 September, 1918, while engaged on wiring work near Le Vergieur. He did much to encourage a large party to carry out the wiring under heavy hostile fire. Supplies of material running short, he personally conducted a carrying party to and from a R.E. dump along a heavily shelled road.'
