Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and good leadership. He led his platoon with great determination in a rush on two enemy machine gun posts, which were holding up part of the advance, captured the positions and killed the garrisons. Later, he cleared several large enemy dug outs, and took the occupants prisoners. He advanced with his plation in the face of point blank fire from a field gun, and captured the anti-tank gun and its crew. He showed great coolness and initiative.'
