Statement, Red Cross File No 2490805, 3695 Pte H.J. BURGESS, D Company, 59th Bn, 9 March 1917: 'Pte. Yates, F.C. of D Co. saw him in "no mans land" (sic) Flerbaix (sic) - dead-. He spoke to him first, thinking he was alive, and then found that he was dead.'
