Military Medal 'North of POZIERES on the night 6th/7th August, 1916, there was a heavy hostile artillery barrage between Battalion Headquarters and the firing line, and the wire was cut on several occasions. Sergeant SIMPSON was out the whole night repairing breaks and showed exceptional bravery and coolness under very dangerous and trying conditions.'
