War Service: Western Front Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal. Served at 11 Depot Battalion on enlistment; transferred to 42nd Depot Battalion 5 December 1916. On 6 February 1917, he was arrested for desertion and brought back on strength from 25 May 1917. Embarked for overseas service 14 June 1917. On 18 July 1917, he was admitted to No. 1 General Hospital, Wynberg, Cape Town, from HT 'Hororata'. Commenced return to Australia from Cape Town on board HMAT A24 'Benalla' 26 September 1917; discharged (medically unfit), Brisbane, 1 December 1917. Roll of Honour Circular completed by L.
