Military Medal 'On the morning of 25th September 1917, whilst a pack troop was endeavouring to convey ammunition o HOOGE DUMP, which was on fire, and later to Machine Gun positions, Corporal Single by his coolness and determination greatly assisted in getting the ammunition to the allotted place, although the shell fire was heavy and enemy aircraft hovering overhead firing from machine guns ton the troop. He also did good work in carrying messages and assisting men of the troop to unload.'
