Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on the 5th April 1918 against our positions opposite DERNANCOURT and ALBERT. Throughout the whole period there was continuous work for this Fitter to keep the guns in action. he accomplished his task magnificently working from gun to gun, at times under the severest of enemy shell fire. Great credit is due to this soldier for the marked ability and devotion to duty which he showed during the battle.'
