Military Medal 'He displayed magnificent bravery while in action near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917. Early in the attack this N.C.O.'s Platoon Commander was wounded and he immediately took the platoon in hand and throughout the attack displayed great dash, leadership and initiative. On one occasion a small enemy post checked the advance of the leading lines, but this N.C.O. led his Platoon on absolutely regardless of danger and mopped the enemy post up. Under heavy shell and machine gun fire he remained cool and collected and did marvellous work in the organisation of his section of the line. He moved about from section to section calmly smoking a cigarette. He made his presence felt throughout and greatly inspired all his men. His work was always of the highest standard.'
