Military Medal 'In front of HAMEL VILLERS BRETONNEUX. Whilst supporting the Infantry Advance on the 9th August 1918, one of the guns of his Battery was put out of action by a direct hit. This Fitter commenced to repair the gun, the enemy continuing to shell the position. His assistant was wounded. In spite of this persistent shelling, and at considerable personal risk, he succeeded in maintaining the gun in action. This man's devotion to duty is deserving of special recognition.'
