War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 28 February 1918; disembarked Liverpool, England, 20 April 1918, amd marched in to 12th Training Bn, Codford. Appointed Acting Lance corporal, 25 May 1918. Attended 21st Musketry Course, Australian School of Musketry, Tidworth,13 June-13 July 1918: qualified 1st Class with a fair working knowledge of the Lewis Gun. Proceeded overseas to France, and reverted to Privare, 29 July 1918; taken on strength, 46th Bn, 9 August 1918. Attached to Graves Registration Detachment, 24 March 1919; detached to 46th Bn, 28 July 1919. Marched out to England for return to Australia, 28 July 1919. Commenced return to Australia from Devonport on board HT 'Euripides', 6 September 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 20 October 1919; discharged, Melbourne, 12 November 1919.
