Military Medal

'During 3rd/4th September, 1916, near Mouquet Farm, this man carried several important messages between 49th Bn Front Line to Quarry, to 52nd Bn Front Line, and 50th Bn Headquarters. Most of these tasks were carried out under heavy shell-fire. He worked rapidly over these long distances, never stopping to take cover no matter how severe the enemy's fire. He further did most useful work guiding supports to the front line when reinforcements were required.'
