Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operation of 26th, 27th and 28th August 1918 which resulted in the capture of FOUCAUCOURT and the advancing of our line beyond ESTREES. This man is a Number One of a Lewis Gun team belonging to the right attacking Coy. During the advance, his Platoon was held up by heavy machine gun fire. He immediately rushed forward to a position which commanded a view of the enemy machine gun post, and brought his gun to bear with such effect that he killed the gun crew, and enabled the advance to be continued. Throughout the whole of the operation, he displayed great dash, and used his gun most effectively on several occasions during the advance.'
