This man is a Number One of a Lewis Gun team belonging to the right attacking Coy. During the advance, his Platoon was held up by heavy machine gun fire. He immediately rushed forward to a position which commanded a view of the enemy machine gun post, and brought his gun to bear with such effect that he killed the gun crew, and enabled the advance to be continued.
