Military Medal 'During the attack on VAUVILLERS, near AMIENS, on the morning of the 10th August 1918, this N.C.O. led his platoon with great dash and gallantry, and when very heavy machine gun fire was encountered, and the men hesitated, this N.C.O. walked about amongst the men, showing disregard for danger and his own safety, and rallied his men. After the attack, he went out several times in the open under heavy machine gun fire, and brought in wounded men. Later in the day, noticing an enemy post close to our line, he went out with a small party and bombed the post out, killing the entire garrison. Throughout the operation, his work was beyond praise.'
