Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. He led his company brilliantly under heavy flanking fire, and personally attacked a machine gun post, shooting the gunner and capturing the three other men and the gun. After gaining his objective, he proceeded to a tank which was on fire in the vicinity, and rescued several of the garrison. This was done under intense machine gun fire. He did splendid work.'
