Military Medal

'After reaching the first objective during the fighting near ROSIERES on August 9th 1918, the heavy casualties sustained necessitated stretcher bearers being called for. Private BOURKE immediately volunteered for this duty and worked continuously during that day and the two following days when the attack was made on LIHONS, often under heavy Machine Gun fire. He showed untiring energy, fine courage and devotion to duty.'
