Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Whilst his battery was being heavily bombarded he showed great dash and presence of mind in leading a party to extinguish burning ammunition on six different occasions. He afterwards went forward as observation officer, and endeavoured to maintain communication for thirty-eight hours. His work in undertaking dangerous tasks has been of a very high standard.
