Landed at Gallipoli, 25 April 1915. Wounded in action (gun shot wound, both legs), 26 April 1915. Evacuated to hospital, Alexandria; rejoined unit at Gallipoli, 6 November 1915. Wounded in action, Gallipoli (gun shot wound, thigh), 15 December 1915; evacuated to England, 21 May 1916.

Attached to 29th Training Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, 9 October 1917; transferred to 43rd Training Squadron, 10 November 1917. Commissioned as Lieutenant, 13 December 1917.

Commenced return to Australia, 24 October 1918.
