Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Having located an enemy post, he went out, supported by the rifle fire of two other men, and met an enemy patrol. He immediately rushed forward, attacked the patrol, wounding one and taking him prisoner. By his plucky action, he secured important information, and set a very fine example of courage and the success of the promptness of action when in a serious position.'
