Military Medal 'During the operations in the vicinity of PERONNE on the 1st and 2nd September, 1918, he rendered invaluable assistance as a runner, and carried important despatches through the heaviest shell and machine gun fire on three occasions. When the gun team had been practically wiped out he volunteered as a gunner, and eventually manipulated the gun under a heavy fire with good effect.'
