Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 1 Date: Bar to Military Medal 'During the attack on 8th August, 1918, east of VILLERS BRETONNEUX, east of AMIENS, this N.C.O. became separated from his platoon owing to the very heavy mist. He pushed on alone to the objective line and beyond to a collection of strong points, making a thorough reconnaisance of them in the mist. The information which he had gained enabled him to lead an attack against same which was successfully caried out. Had these posts not been dealt with expeditiously they would have presented a serious obstacle to the prosecution of the next phase of the attack.'
