Wounded in action and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 3 May 1917 (gun shot wounds to head and shoulder); transferred to Ambulance Train, 4 May 1917; to 9th General Hospital, Rouen, 5 May 1917; to England, 14 May 1917; admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, England, 15 May 1917 (rheumatism); discharged from hospital and granted leave, 26 July 1917.

Marched in, from leave, to Training Bn, Codford, 9 August 1917.

Found guilty, No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 5 March 1918, of neglecting to obey orders from a Commanding Officer: awarded forfeiture of 2 days' pay.

Taken on strength of Australian Army Medical Corps Training Depot, Parkhouse, 8 March 1918; marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 20 April 1918; marched in to Australian Imperial Force Headquarters, London, 21 September 1918.
