Military Medal 'At WESTHOEK, 20th September 1917. This N.C.O. was in charge of a section which was held up by machine gun fire from a 'Pill-Box'. He skilfully posted his men and personally rushed the enemy's post, putting the machine gun and crew out of action by using Mills bombs. Single handed he took several un-wounded prisoners from his post.'
