Military Medal 'During the attack on MONTBREHAIN, east of PERONNE, on 5th October, 1918, ST CLAIR was a stretcher bearer, and from the beginning of the operation until the end he displayed a courage and devotion to duty that were remarkable. Repeatedly he risked his life to succour the wounded, and on one occasion he rushed forward through a heavy barrage and murderous machine gun fire, and picking up a wounded man, brought him back to safety.'
