War service: Western Front: Disembarked Plymouth 9 January 1917; proceeded overseas to France 28 March 1917; marched in to Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 31 March 1917; marched out to front 20 April 1917 and taken on strength of 33rd Battalion. Wounded in action 15 October 1917; admitted to 7th Combined Clearing Hospital (Gun shot wound, face); transferred to 6th Convalescent Depot 18 October 1917. Marched out to base depot 21 IOctober 1917; marched out to front 3 November 1917 and rejoined unit. Proceeded on leave to England 2 March 1918; rejoined unit from leave 23 March 1918. Wounded in action second occasion (gassed) 18 April 1918; admitted to 12th Casualty Clearing Station 20 April 1918; Admitted to 16th General Hospital, Le Treport.
