Proceeded from Egypt to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli), 12 April 1915. Admitted to No. 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Lemnos, 23 April 1915.

Landed at Gallipoli, 25 April 1915. Wounded in action, 29 April 1915 (gun shot wound, thigh, arm, shoulder). Admitted to 1st General Hospital, Heliopolis, Egypt, 7-8 June 1915; discharged to duty, 20 June 1915. Admitted to No. 3 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 9 October 1915 (Nile fever); transferred to Convalescent Home, Alexandria, 19 October 1915; discharged to Australian Base Cairo, 15 November 1915, and placed on duty at No. 4 Auxiliary Hospital, Abbassia. Transferred to Australian Army Medical Corps, Tel el Kebir, 22 March 1916. Appointed Corporal, 17 June 1916.

Embarked for the United Kingdom from Alexandria on board HT 'Valdivia', 14 September 1916; marched in to No. 2 Camp, Parkhouse, England, 28 September 1916.
