Meritorious Service Medal 'For the constant faithful performance of his duties under very difficult circumstances. His unit was in the forward area for a long period in the YPRES fighting. By his energy and foresight their feeding arrangements never failed them, though it was a matter at times of great difficulty to get rations up. Throughout his service his zeal and intelligence have been conspicuous.'
